Wielka Orkiestra Świątecznej Pomocy (WOSP) – The Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity; is the biggest and most prosperous charity organization in Poland. 
A year ago, we talked about oncology diagnostics in treatment of small children. It turned out that by doing this the Orchestra touched upon a particularly important but also very difficult subject.
There are about a dozen children’s oncology centers in Poland, all of them with excellent staff. The problem is that these hospitals are still missing the most modern diagnostic and therapeutic equipment. It was our ambition to create some dozen additional wards (a few extra ones in every province), where parents who have a referral from their child’s pediatrician could consult specialist doctors and register for early diagnostics examination. It was this goal that we had in mind when we were collecting money during our 17th Great Finale, which by the way was a great success – we collected about 40 million PLN.
However, it turned out that the collected sum was not high enough and we were not able to put all of our plans into life. 
What we did manage to achieve was equip 60 radiology laboratories all over Poland with modern ultrasound scanning devices. Besides, the Orchestra purchased ultrasound scanners for oncology clinics, and provided children’s magnetic resonance clinics with additional anesthesiology sets in order to ensure safe anesthetization during the examination.
Still, it was all too little. We did not have enough money to buy other types of modern equipment such as CAT scanners or neuronavigation devices, which are used to determine the exact location of the tumor and help to remove it safely.
In order to deal with the problems of Polish children’s oncology successfully, we have decided to make it the theme of yet another Great Finale. We are well aware of the fact that we during 17 years of our work we have been trusted by the people – that is by YOU! The Orchestra is still working hard to win your trust and for that reason we will again give a very clear financial account and show how efficient our work is.

XVIII FINAŁ WIELKIEJ ORKIESTRY ŚWIĄTECZNEJ POMOCY NA ŚWIECIE: Gramy na całym świecie!!!
Na mojej stronie pokazuję posty o 18 finale WOŚP w różnych zakątkach świata. 
Część 1 to : Dublin, Chicago, Connecticut, Floryda, New York.

Przed nami XVIII Finał Wielkiej Orkiestry Świątecznej Pomocy, który odbędzie się w niedzielę, 10.01.2010 r.
Postanowiliśmy po raz drugi poświęcić go onkologii dziecięcej.
Kiedy rok temu mówiliśmy o diagnostyce onkologicznej małych dzieci, okazało się, że „dotknęliśmy” niezwykle ważnego, ale także trudnego tematu. 
W Polsce jest kilkanaście centrów onkologii dziecięcej z doskonałą kadrą, które to centra nie są dostatecznie wyposażone w najnowocześniejszy sprzęt potrzebny do diagnostyki i leczenia. Naszą ambicją było stworzenie kilkudziesięciu dodatkowych miejsc w Polsce (po kilka w każdym województwie), gdzie rodzice – skierowani przez pediatrę – będą mogli spotkać się ze specjalistą i wykonać badanie w ramach wczesnej diagnostyki. I na ten cel zbieraliśmy pieniądze w czasie XVII Finału, który był ogromnym sukcesem (zebraliśmy ok. 40 mln zł).
Okazało się jednak, że zebrana kwota jest niewystarczająca i nie jesteśmy w stanie zrealizować w pełni naszych planów.
Udało nam się wyposażyć 60 pracowni radiologicznych w całej Polsce w nowoczesne aparaty USG, kupiliśmy też ultrasonografy dla klinik onkologicznych, doposażyliśmy istniejące pracownie rezonansu magnetycznego dla dzieci w zestawy anestezjologiczne, aby badania przebiegały w bezpiecznym znieczuleniu.
To jednak za mało. Nie wystarczyło niestety środków na zakup nowoczesnego sprzętu dla klinik onkologicznych takiego jak np. tomografy komputerowe, czy aparaty do neuronawigacji, które pozwalają na bardzo precyzyjne zdiagnozowanie położenia guza i następnie jego bezpieczne zoperowanie.
Aby z sukcesem zakończyć temat onkologii dziecięcej postanowiliśmy poświęcić mu jeszcze jeden Finał. Mamy świadomość, że już od 17 lat cieszymy się ogromnym zaufaniem społecznym. Państwa zaufaniem! Cały czas na nie pracujemy i dlatego – jak co roku - tak i teraz, będziemy dokładnie rozliczać zebrane środki i pokazywać jak bardzo wymierne są nasze działania.
Nadal apolityczni, nadal niezależni, nadal całą mocą wspierający polską medycynę dziecięcą najnowocześniejszymi systemami, mówimy, że gramy do końca świata i jeden dzień dłużej! Zapraszamy Was więc do kolejnego XVIII Finału – od tej chwili możecie realizować nawet najbardziej szalone pomysły kolejnego finałowego grania.
